This natural wetland is located on a 190-acre family farm in the Hudson Valley. It is a perfect example of how we can give back to our environment by letting nature run its course while still retaining the aesthetic beauty provided by the surrounding native landscape.

Aquatic Habitats was commissioned by this family to design and install an aquatic planting scape on their two manually-shaped natural clay ponds. Utilizing locally-sourced native aquatic plants, both non-invasive marginal and semi-marginal, our company successfully created a healthy ecosystem in which local fauna can thrive while also providing a waterscape for the family to admire. The design and installation process included mindfully transitioning the hardscape meadow into a lush wetland, as well as stocking each pond with the necessary native fish to balance the ecological system.

This pond was originally designed and installed by others.
